This may not have been the best weekend to do architecture. I was freezing cold the entire time I was downtown. The weather caused me to not take as many pictures as I wanted to as well as made some blurry because I was shivering. Despite this difficulty, I managed to get a few good pictures. I learned how important it is to plan ahead when going out to take pictures. It was a grey, freezing day, and I can imagine better conditions would have made my shoot turn out better.

During this assignment, we were tasked to make our car look like Noelle's after she edited it. We used many different aspects of Photoshop including layers, clone stamp tool, selections and levels. When making my selection for the background, I chose to make it entirely black instead of leaving the white floor. In diverting from what I was supposed to do, I learned how to use the eraser tool to fix it. I decided to leave it as is, as a creative decision. Sorry for changing the project, Mr. Bush!
For this assignment, we created pop art out of a simple portrait. We learned how to use some simple controls in Photoshop. I learned about filters, guides, the resizing tool, and moving layers.
I started out the weekend without an idea of what I would photograph. Due to being sick, I realized I wouldn't be going anywhere to take pictures, so I decided to start looking through Pinterest for some inspiration on something I could do from my home. I came across some pictures of cups of water in front of different backgrounds. I thought they looked really cool, so I chose that for my project this week. I first had to find some glasses without any writing or design on them, which was extremely hard in my house. Then, I printed out my backgrounds and set everything up in my kitchen. I waited until the natural light was coming in and then began to photograph. After taking quite a few pictures, I wished I had larger backgrounds and nicer glasses. If I were to do it again, I wouldn't use the glasses I did because the pictures I saw online worked better. Overall, I think the pictures came out okay. I only wish I had better materials to complete it. For my first photo assignment, I chose the subject of food. My lunch run to Whole Foods turned into a photo shoot. Despite getting some strange looks as I wandered around the store with my camera in hand, I found it to be a successful trip. The lighting, for the most part, was pretty good. It would have helped me out if they had some of their fresh fruits and veggies arranged in a more aesthetically pleasing way, but I tried to make the best of what I was given. From this struggle I learned how important a photographer's eye must be to take good pictures. I'm sure a professional would have seen a more creative way to shoot some of these pictures. However, this is our first project, so I am proud of the shots I got. |
